PTCL ‘reconnect’ campaign features Shahid Nazir

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has launched a new strategic campaign enabling its customers to re-connect their closed landline connections by just paying 50% of the total PTCL outstanding amount without any additional reconnection charges.
The PTCL “Reconnect Landline Link” campaign features a creative jingle ‘Come on People, Come on People’, sung and performed by Shahid Nazir known worldwide as “One Pound Fish Man”, that creatively depicts the affordability and reliability of PTCL landline network.

The Pakistani singer and internet sensation, Shahid Nazir, acclaimed international fame through his viral hit song ‘One Pound Fish’. He has also featured in the UK based international music show, X-Factor, and has recently signed a record deal with Warner Music (Warner Brothers).

“PTCL believes in nurturing the local talent and this initiative is a part of our broader efforts towards creating opportunities for the local talent to showcase their abilities,” commented Furqan Habib Qureshi, PTCL Senior Executive Vice President (SEVP) Commercial. “The strategic campaign creatively portrays the significance of PTCL landline and enables our customers to return into the fold of the largest and most reliable telecommunications network in the country”, he added further.

PTCL has brought a paradigm shift in the telecom sector through its EVO wireless products, Vfone, Video Con and Smart TV services. However, PTCL landline remains the backbone of the telecom and internet industry of Pakistan and is still by far the largest voice telephony network in the country. PTCL landline also offers the most affordable rates, enabling customers to make unlimited on-net calls across the country for just Rs. 250 per month without any monthly line rent.

PTCL takes employee development to new heights

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has provided motorcycles on ownership basis to its Customer Services Representatives and technicians of field units as part of the company’s employee development initiatives.

This major initiative has been taken aligning the personal welfare of employees with business sustainability.

In the first phase of this program, employees are being provided Motorcycles in 48 easy instalments on ownership basis. In addition, 30 litres of fuel will also be provided by the company every month. This facilitation exercise brings convenience for the employees and also strengthens the field resources for provisioning of better services to the customers.

Syed Mazhar Hussain, PTCL Senior Executive Vice President (SEVP) Human Resources said at the occasion,

“PTCL recognizes its human resource at its most valuable asset and invests heavily in their development through various training initiatives and welfare activities.

Our HR initiatives are geared towards creating a sustainable economic and social impact on the lives of our employees. This initiative will not only benefit and improve the productivity of our employees but also inspire them to deliver beyond our customers expectations.”

In connection with this employee facilitation exercise, special ceremonies were held in all the zonal head offices where motorcycles were handed over to the employees by PTCL management.

Samsung Launches Galaxy Note II Creative Guru Contest in Pakistan

Samsung is celebrating the overwhelming global success of the “Samsung Galaxy Note II” by holding “Creative Guru” activity at various cafes across Pakistan. Launched in October 2012, the Galaxy Note-II is an intuitive smartphone and a fascinatingly creative device. samsung

Samsung claims that worldwide sales Galaxy Note-II had exceeded five million units within two months of its launch, while the figures continue to grow rapidly. This smartphone is consistently selling at more than three times the pace of the Note 1 – its predecessor.

The inauguration ceremony was held at the Atrium in Mall Of Lahore, on 1st February, 2013, attended by prominent personalities along with Television, Print, Radio and online Media.

During the ceremony, a qualified sketch artist from the National College of Arts, was engaged to use the creative features of Note II, and draw a sketch of Humaima Malik – the renowned TV & film star and guest of honour at the ceremony. After being rolled out from Café Zouk-Lahore, the Note II “Creative Guru” events will hit various top Cafes and Art Institutes in Lahore. Later, this contest will continue its journey through trendy cafes in Karachi and Islamabad. PTCL Broadband Economy Package

After having numerous broadband packages, PTCL has introduced Broadband Economy Package for internet surfers. It’s the first ever package which offers 1Mbps speed with a monthly limit of 10 GB download or upload only at Rs.499.

Seemingly, the most affordable and fastest, Broadband Economy Package, designed keeping in view the need of students and young professionals to avail uninterrupted and fast internet services for their interests without any additional charges.

It is the best fit for the consumers with limited internet activity but definitely, it will allow customers to use extra bandwidth after exceeding10 GB at Rs. 100 per additional GB.

While, after reaching at 20 GB, the package will become unlimited and for the internet surfers who wish to downgrade from Standard 1Mbps, the above package will be charged a onetime fee of Rs1, 500.

However, this package comes with Freedom package only which will cost R.250 extra with unlimited free calls, nationwide.

Samsung Announces Shock, Dust and Water Proof Galaxy Xcover 2

Samsung has just unveiled the widely rumoured Galaxy Xcover 2 — only one month before Mobile World Congress 2013 trade fair.

Samsung has improved all the specs of its predecessor (Xcover S5690), from a bigger screen to a more powerful processor.

Weighing 149 grams, The Galaxy Xcover 2 boasts a 4” WVGA TFT screen measuring 130.5 x 67.7 x 12 mm that is quite bigger than its predecessor. Following the Xcover S5690, the new Galaxy Xcover 2 is a rugged smartphone that is shock and dustproof, in addition to being IP67 certified; consequently, it’s waterproof and can function in up to three feet of water while being able to stay there for half an hour due to a battery cover lock that provides additional protection against dropping.

A dedicated camera key, meanwhile, has made it possible for underwater photography.

On hardware front, it has dual-core 1GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and 4 GB of built-in memory along with a micro SD card which can be expanded up to 32 GB. It runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with Samsung’s TouchWiz customizations and Samsung Hub, including the latest apps and services such as Readers Hub, Video hub, Game Hub and Music Hub.

In this new device, Samsung has given 5MP main camera with LED flash which can shoot 720p video and there’s a dedicated shutter key including a front-facing VGA camera.

Connectivity options for this includes 3G with 14.4Mbps HSDPA and 5.76Mbps HSUPA, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS + GLONASS along with 1700 mAh battery capacity which offers a stand-by time of up to 570 hours.

Pricing and availability for this device is not unveiled yet, and it is likely that Samsung will reveal more information during MWC late next month. The estimated price for this new device is said to be about 35,000 to 40,000 PKR.

PTCL offers free balance for Vfone customers

Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited (PTCL) has launched an exciting offer for its Vfone customers, enabling them to avail free balance of Rs. 1000.

The offer has been specially launched for customers, who have not recharged their account since Aug 10, 2012. Customers can avail this service by calling or sending a SMS at 7711. Valid for 15 days from the day of activation, the free balance of Rs. 1000 can be utilized by customers for Vfone to Vfone and Vfone to PTCL calls, Internet and SMS services.

Omar Khalid, PTCL Executive Vice President (EVP) Wireless Business said at the occasion, “Serving the needs of our customers remains our top priority and we are striving to exceed their expectations. With PTCL Vfone, our customers enjoy on-the-go voice and data connectivity at most affordable rates”.

PTCL Vfone has the country’s largest Wireless Local Loop (WLL) coverage and is available with both prepaid and postpaid options. Vfone enables customers to enjoy unlimited free calls from Vfone to Vfone and Vfone to PTCL landline through ‘Family & Unlimited packages’. Vfone also offers SMS facility to all networks for only Rs. 0.30 per SMS while internet charges are Rs. 2.00 per 15 minutes.

PTCL inks agreement to provide Data Center Services to Meezan Bank

Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited (PTCL), the largest integrated telecommunications services provider in the country, and Meezan Bank have announced signing an agreement for Data Center services provisioning. Under the agreement, PTCL will provide Data Center services to Meezan Bank for its Disaster Recovery Data Center (DRDC). This strategic partnership shall enable Meezan Bank in disaster recovery and business continuity, reduce internal network operations cost, provide geographical redundancy and add greater resilience to its network.

The agreement was signed by Zaman Gulzar, PTCL Executive Vice President (EVP), National Sales and Arif Ul Islam, Chief Operating Officer (COO) & Executive Director, Meezan Bank, at a ceremony held at Meezan Bank Head Office in Karachi. Other senior officials from PTCL and Meezan Bank were also present at the occasion.

The state of the art Data Centers of PTCL offer strategic ICT solutions through a highly secure and reliable network infrastructure providing optimum network security, storage facilities, resource utilization  and scalability  which reduce the cost of data ownership and management.

PTCL will host Meezan Bank’s data services at the company’s Data Center in Islamabad, providing convenient and secure network support to the bank’s 300 branches in 90 cities nationwide. PTCL has also recently signed an agreement with Meezan Bank, enabling the banks customers to enjoy PTCL EVO Wireless Broadband services along with the services of Meezan Bank.
